Missionaries of Salekhard performed the Sacrament of Baptism in a remote villagetranslated
Prikhody.ru 10/06/2026. The missionary group of the Salekhard deanery visited the village of Shuryshkari (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) from September 29 to October 1.
Priest Bohdan Vasilyuk conducted an interview with those who wish to receive Baptism and spoke in detail about the basics of the Orthodox faith. As reported in the diocese’s public page on the social network VKontakte, “in these conversations one could feel the sincere desire of people to touch the spiritual tradition.” In addition, the second missionary, Deacon Maxim Shklyarov, met with teachers from the local school. Here a conversation took place about the history of the New Testament. The teachers listened attentively and asked questions, reflecting on how to carefully pass on moral values to the younger generation.
A screening of the children's film "Puppy" was also organized for schoolchildren. After the screening, the children shared their impressions: they sincerely worried about the characters and left inspired, and genuine emotions were visible in their eyes - which means that the good movie resonated in children’s hearts, the missionaries are convinced.
