Mission Aurora: The new eco-school year 2026–2027 has begun

On Saturday, 19 September 2026, at the Orthodox Parish of the Holy Great Martyr Menas and the New Martyr Ephraim, the Wonderworkers, in San Lorenzo di Sedegliano (Udine), the new year of the Eco-School 2026–2027 of the Sacred Metropolis of Italy and Exarchate of Southern Europe officially began.

The new journey bears the title “Mission Aurora – From the Sun to the Lights of the North” and will accompany children and young people through six formative stages, before the seventh and final one: the expedition. Not a succession of isolated lessons, then, but a single journey in which scientific knowledge, observation, experience, ecological responsibility and the spiritual dimension gradually meet. The first day, entitled “Where are we? – The Earth, the Sun and the Universe”, set out from the simplest and, at the same time, the greatest question: where are we? To answer it, the young participants were invited to lift their eyes and to widen their horizon step by step, from the Earth to the Solar System and from the Sun to the vastness of the Universe.
