Thousands of believers participated on Sunday in the consecration of the church of the "La Stejari" Hermitage in Mănești commune, Dâmbovița county. The service was officiated by His Holiness Father Nifon, Archbishop of Târgoviște and Patriarchal Exarch.

His Eminence highlighted the importance of monastic settlements in the life of the Church and their contribution to the spiritual and cultural development of society: "Monasticism represents a holy vocation, a call to ceaseless and deep prayer."

IPS Nifon recalled that the monasteries had, over the centuries, an important role in education, culture and the preservation of the Christian faith.

"In these hearths of spirituality the first schools, hospitals and libraries came into being, unsurpassed works of art were born, from embroideries and manuscripts, to the printed book."

Awards for benefactors At the end of the service, His Holiness Father Nifon awarded the abbess Iustina Dănilă the rank of stavrophora, as a sign of appreciation for the activity carried out within the monastic settlement.
