MSMU: cardiac drugs have passed the first stage of repurposing for dentistrytranslated

Scientists at Sechenov University are working on new ways to use drugs whose safety has already been studied. Researchers are looking for other targets in the body for known pharmaceutical substances in order to use them for diseases for which they were not originally intended to treat. Experts are currently studying three drugs. One medicine used in cardiology is planned to be used in coloproctology for the treatment of anorectal fissures, and another medicine from the same area is planned to be used as an antispasmodic for gums. Another drug intended to treat endocrine diseases is being studied as a potential treatment for atopic dermatitis.

Victoria Grikh, an employee of the A.P. Nelyubin Institute of Pharmacy, explained that this approach is based on the search for new targets for already known substances.
