Metropolitan of Nea Ionia: “The purpose for which we embarked on this journey 7,5 years ago has been fulfilled” (VIDEO)

On Tuesday evening, the official inauguration of the Ionian Centre took place in the presence of Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece, representatives of the political, social and business communities, and a large gathering of people.

This new centre of religious worship, culture and historical remembrance was formally presented in the packed auditorium of the Centre for Culture and Youth, which is located within the wider complex.

Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia, Philadelphia, Heraklion and Chalcedon, presented the vision behind the Ionian Centre and the journey towards its realisation.

“The purpose for which we embarked upon this endeavour seven and a half years ago has now been fulfilled.” These were the opening words of Metropolitan Gabriel, whose voice conveyed deep emotion and evident pride. He went on to express his gratitude to all those who had contributed to the project, including benefactors, engineers and representatives of the political establishment and local government.

“You gave shape to a vision and brought it to life, delivering it to us in tangible form. I thank you most sincerely, from the bottom of my heart,” he emphasised.
