Metropolitan of Jordan bid farewell to Greek Ambassador Irene Riga

Metropolitan Christophoros of Jordan hosted a farewell reception for Greek Ambassador to Jordan Irene Riga on Sunday, October 11, marking the conclusion of her diplomatic mission in the country.

The reception was held at the Metropolitan Residence in Amman, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh, clergy, and other officials.

Speaking on behalf of Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, Metropolitan Christophoros thanked the Ambassador for her support of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, its institutions, and the faithful.

He praised her contribution to strengthening cooperation between Greece and the Patriarchate, as well as her efforts to promote friendship and cooperation with Jordan.

The Metropolitan also referred to the longstanding historical and spiritual ties between Greece and the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, highlighting its role in safeguarding Christian holy sites and preserving the Christian presence in the Holy Land.
