Metropolitan Ioan urges students to seek knowledge that ‘builds up the soul’ at beginning of new school year

His Eminence Metropolitan Ioan of Banat urged students to learn what benefits them, warning: “Not everything you can learn builds you up spiritually.”
In a message for the beginning of the new school year, the Metropolitan of Banat emphasised that the first day of school is a moment of joy, but also one of emotion and responsibility.
“Students return to their classrooms, teachers resume their noble mission, and parents entrust their children to the school in the hope that they will grow in knowledge, wisdom and soundness of soul.”
Metropolitan Ioan encouraged young people to be kind and supportive of one another.
“Be there for one another, do not leave any classmate alone, and do not turn your words into wounds for your neighbour.”
Advice for teachers and parents Metropolitan Ioan highlighted the fundamental role teachers play in shaping younger generations.
“Into your hands are entrusted not only the minds of children, but also many of their questions, struggles and hopes. A teacher’s mission is not only to impart knowledge, but also to form character and open paths in life.”
