Metropolitan Epifaniy joins interfaith “Prayer for Ukraine” on Independence Day

Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine took part in the interfaith event “Prayer for Ukraine” at Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv on August 24, 2026, as the country marked the 35th anniversary of the restoration of its independence.
The annual gathering was organized by the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations and brought together leaders and representatives of Ukraine’s religious communities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended the event alongside First Lady Olena Zelenska. Metropolitan Epifaniy was accompanied by Metropolitan Yevstratiy of Bila Tserkva and Archbishop Agapit of Vyshhorod.
At the beginning of the gathering, Metropolitan Epifaniy offered a prayer for Ukraine. The event concluded with the singing of the country’s spiritual anthem, “God, the Great and One.”
Later, the Primate of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine attended the official state celebrations held at Saint Sophia Square in Kyiv.
