Meeting of the Ecumenical Patriarch with the Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor Gerasimos Siasos, met with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the seat of the Ecumenical Throne in the Phanar.

Among other matters, Rector Professor Gerasimos Siasos briefed the Ecumenical Patriarch — who has been proclaimed Honorary Doctor of all the Schools and Departments of the University of Athens — on the institution’s international development trajectory and the program of anniversary events marking the 190th year since its founding.

In a statement, Mr. Siasos said:

“It was a particular honor and profound joy for me to have the opportunity to brief His All-Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, on the dynamic developmental and international trajectory of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as on the full range of anniversary activities being planned to mark 190 years since the founding of Greece’s first and largest university.
