“A lighthouse on the path of service”: Ural pathfinders honored the memory of Saint Elizabeth in Alapaevsktranslated

More than 150 participants from three regions of the Ural Federal District, as well as guests from Kaliningrad and Serbia, gathered in Alapaevsk on the Day of Remembrance of the Holy Martyr Elizabeth.
On the night of July 18, 1918, in Alapaevsk, members of the Romanov dynasty, the abbess of the Marfo-Mariinsky Convent, Grand Duchess Elisaveta Feodorovna, and nun Varvara were brutally murdered by the Bolsheviks. Here the saint organized the work of the “Floor School” with her close people, and here she spent the last two months of her life.
On June 29, 2017, on Cathedral Square next to the Holy Trinity Cathedral, with the support of the Yekaterinburg branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, a monument to the Holy Martyr Elizabeth was erected. For the first time, detachments of the Brotherhood of Orthodox Pathfinders visited Alapaevsk on November 10, 2018, and from November 1, 2023, the council of the Yekaterinburg regional branch of the BPS decided to hold an annual ceremonial formation on the Saint’s Day of Remembrance at the monument. Today, these events have become traditional for the Ural units of the Brotherhood during the autumn holidays, and every year there are more and more participants.
