Maramureș: A day center with recovery services for the elderly was inaugurated in Deseștitranslated

The Day Center for the Elderly in Desești, Maramureș county was inaugurated on Thursday. His Holiness Father Iustin, Bishop of Maramureș and Sătmar, officiated the blessing service of the new facility for medical recovery.

His Eminence emphasized the importance of caring for the elderly: "The measure of the authenticity of a community is not given by its material prosperity, but by its ability to protect its most vulnerable members."

"The elderly are not only the living memory of a nation, but also a source of experience, wisdom and faith, and caring for them is a concrete expression of the Gospel of love and social responsibility that the Church constantly promotes", said the Bishop of Maramureș and Sătmar.

The hierarch showed that the new center responds to real needs of the elderly: "This new center represents a model of good practice in the field of integrated social services, offering elderly people medical recovery services, social support, socialization activities and programs aimed at combating isolation and marginalization, thus contributing to the development of modern social services...
