The monastery in Poiana Răftivalinor celebrated its patron in advancetranslated

September 7, 2026 · 1 min read

The Nativity of the Mother of God monastery in Poiana Răftivanilor, Suceava county, celebrated its patron saint on Sunday, two days before the holiday.

The Holy Liturgy was officiated by the Most Reverend Father Ieronimo, the Bishop of Dacia Felix, in the exterior altar in the churchyard.

His Eminence explained the Parable of the wedding of the king's son and spoke about God's call to all people, the Incarnation of the Savior and the spiritual preparation necessary to participate in the Holy Liturgy.

During the service, the theologian Alexandru Andrei Rusu Melinte was ordained a deacon on behalf of the "Saint Dimitrie" Parish in Cornul Luncii, Suceava county.

As a sign of the community's gratitude, the hierarch was presented with an embroidered badge with the image of his patron saint. The mayor of Dolhasca, Decebal Dumitru Isachi, received a copy of the Holy Scripture covered in leather, for the support given to the settlement.

Over 170 years of history Protosinghel Natan Țurcan, the abbot of the "Nastrea Maiici Domnului" Monastery - Poiana Răftivanilor, thanked the hierarch, the clergy, the faithful and those who support the restoration of monastic life.

Father Abbot emphasized that...

I’m glad for the monastery in Poena Reftivanilor, 170 years is serious. It’s good that Bishop Jerome served on the street and spoke specifically about the parable of the marriage of the king’s son; it’s always about us. And an embroidered thigh with his saint is a beautiful idea; our Samara people also love to give this.

I'm glad they celebrated the hram outside in this beautiful place. I thought about the parable about the wedding of the king's son - how many times we reject this invitation because of simple everyday matters. A bedernița with the image of the patron saint is a good idea, the sisters in our parish once embroidered something like this.

It’s good that we noted it in advance, on Sunday. The parable about the marriage of the king’s son is always relevant, especially when Bishop Jerome directly spoke about preparing the soul for the Liturgy. And the thigh with the face of his saint is correct; such a gift would be appreciated in our area.

I agree, Sunday is more convenient for the majority, especially when the bishop spoke so directly about preparing the soul - it stuck. In our parish in Novosibirsk, they also often take the parable of the marriage of the king’s son for a sermon before communion. Have you been to those parts yourself or are you just following the news from Suceava?
