Bisericani Monastery has a new abbot: Hieromonk David Şimon was introduced to the monastic communitytranslated

The Most Reverend Father Nichifor Botoșaneanul, Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Iași, installed Hieromonk David Șimon as abbot of the Biserica Monastery on Monday.

The installation was attended by the monastic community, Archimandrite Petroniu Marin, exarch for the Neamț area within the Archdiocese of Iasi, and close associates of the monastic establishment.

The Reverend Father Nichifor Botoșaneanul also performed a memorial service at the grave of the proto-single Seraphim Mihali, the former abbot of the monastery settlement, who passed to eternal life on July 16, 2026.

Biographical data Hieromonk David Şimon was born on April 24, 1965, in Botoşani, having four brothers. He attended primary and secondary school, then the "Mihai Eminescu" High School in Botoșani and the Chemical Engineering Faculty of the Iași Polytechnic Institute.

Between 1990 and 2005 he worked as a teacher in secondary and high school education. In 2005 he entered the monastic life, at the Secu Monastery, and between 2015 and 2020 he lived at the Bisericani Monastery.
