“Love is giving”: how the children from the shelter gave joy to those who need caretranslated

During the celebration of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the pupils of the children's social shelter, inspired by the example of the sisters of mercy, themselves became philanthropists, preparing gifts for hospital patients and the elderly.
The holiday began for the children with a visit from the sisters of the local parish sisterhood, who came to them immediately after the All-Night Vigil in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. The meeting was not limited to simple communication: the sisters invited the children to immerse themselves in the deep meaning of the August holidays - the three Spas.
Instead of the usual story about gastronomic traditions, the children were shown a series of short videos “Assumption Fast: Honey, Apple, Bread Spas.” The main emphasis in them was placed on the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
During the conversation, children and adults came to the important conclusion that Christianity is not about food, but about love: the essence of fasting and subsequent festive joy lies in love for God and neighbor. And love is always an action, it is a willingness to “give”: your time, attention, mental strength and care. To bring these words to life, the sisters invited the children to make small “kind” packages for treats with their own hands. The children took to it with great enthusiasm...
