Personal example and prayer in caring for childrentranslated

On October 29, 2026, a single regional parent meeting was held in a remote format on the basis of the education department of the Gomel District Executive Committee. Participants discussed the prevention of suicidal behavior among children and adolescents, employment and safety of schoolchildren during the autumn holidays.

The clergyman of the parish of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in Gomel, Priest Pavel Sedko, addressed his parents with a word about life as a gift of God. The priest noted that it is important for adults to understand the value of this gift themselves and to help children realize the value of their lives.

Priest Paul called on parents to live according to conscience, participate in the daily life of the child, support and encourage him in any circumstances. He also recalled the importance of prayer for children and parental blessings.

Speakers at the meeting were the psychologist of the teenager-friendly center “Teenager” T.V. Zhukevich, the psychologist of the Gomel Regional Psychiatric Hospital A.V. Slesarenko-Filonova, the juvenile affairs inspector of the ROVD S.N. Serebryakov and the OGAI inspector D.A. Tkacheva. Experts examined the issues of children's psychological well-being and their safety during the holidays.
