The Cape of Friendship camp for BPS units took place on the banks of the Mrassu Rivertranslated

July 18, 2026 · 1 min read

From July 7 to July 13, on the banks of the Mrassu River there was a camp of the detachments of the Brotherhood of Orthodox Pathfinders “Hodegetria” in the city of Myski and “Rusichi” in the city of Prokopyevsk.

During the rest, the children were able to truly enjoy the summer days. Experienced scouts showed their skills in setting up a camp, and junior scouts helped older ones and gained experience living in camping conditions.

The guys not only lived in nature, but also made several trips and excursions. The Pathfinders visited the St. Panteleimon Monastery in the village of Bezrukovo, where they received Holy Communion; We visited the church in honor of the Hodegetria icon of the Mother of God, where we prayed at the Divine Liturgy.

Pathfinders from the Hodegetria detachment gave guests from Prokopyevsk a tour of Myski, introducing the children to local attractions.

The camp itself was no less interesting. A competition of forest clothes and a culinary competition “Forest Kitchen” was held for the children, as well as a traditional “Forest Game” for ingenuity, dexterity and unity.

Every day at the camp was filled with a special mood, a friendly atmosphere, fresh air and warm water of the Mrassu River. The guys received a lot of emotions and impressions and took with them the warmest…

It’s good that the children visited the St. Panteleimon Monastery and received communion. And the “Forest Kitchen” competition was probably a success - in our camps, the most delicious food is always what is cooked over the fire. Well done for getting so much done.

It's good that they visited the Saint-Panteleimon monastery in Bezrukov and were able to accept each other. In our parish, children also like trips to the river, and the "Forest Kitchen" competition over a bonfire is always a hit - my son once baked such potatoes that everyone asked for more. I wonder how "Forest Game" went.

Yes, this trip to the monastery in Bezruków must have been a strong point of the entire camp. Here in Krakow, children always come alive around the bonfire, and the "Forest Kitchen" competition is a real hit - my husband once baked a sausage that everyone liked better than those from home. I wonder if those from Myski or Prokopiewsko won in the "Forest Game"?

Yes, the trip to Bezrukov was definitely remembered, especially the stay at the monastery there. In our case in Myški, the guys from "Odigitria" probably won the "Forest Game" because they knew the area better. Is a bonfire also a hit in your place in Krakow?

Yes, the arrival in Bezruków was the most powerful moment of the entire trip. In our "Forest Game", the guys from "Odigitria" actually won because they knew every bush above Mraśsu. What about you in Krakow? Do you have a bonfire every week or only on special occasions?

It's good that the emphasis on the participle is the main thing. But our forest clothing competition last year was especially funny, when one guy built himself an entire “armor” out of branches and moss and could barely run. Which camps do you visit most often, Ekaterina?

I agree, communion in a monastery is really the main thing; without it, everything else is just a picnic. And I have a good idea about the “armor” made of branches and moss; last year, while fishing, our son also tried to make such a structure from reeds - he barely fit into the bus. What unit were you in as a ranger, Stepan, in “Hodegetria” or in “Rusichi”?

I agree, communion in Bezrukovo really puts everything in its place; without it, the camp would be just a trip to barbecue. And she smiled about the “armor” made from branches - my eldest made the same thing out of nettles and sticks at the dacha last year, and I could barely wash it. Georgy, what unit is your son in now, in “Hodegetria” or already in “Rusichi”?

My youngest is in Hodigitria so far, this year he spent the night in a tent for the first time on Mrassa. And as for the nettles - yes, after playing in the forest, all our clothes were covered in green spots; my wife then soaked them in a basin of soda. It’s good that there was communion in Bezrukovo; without it, it really would have been just a picnic.

Yes, the stay in Bezrukov actually stays in your memory for a long time. In Krakow, we tend to have bonfires on special occasions, because a lot of people go away in the summer, but we try to do it at least once a month. How's your "Forest Kitchen" going, did any specific dishes win?

Yes, the stay in Bezrukowo was a strong point of the entire trip, especially for the younger ones. And in our "Forest Kitchen" the winners were dumplings with blueberries and black pudding from a campfire - simple, but the guys could knock them out in a minute. What do you most often bake on these bonfires in Krakow?
