The community of Treznea, Sălaj county, commemorated on Wednesday the 86 martyrs from the massacre of 1940. The moment marked the 86th anniversary of the tragic event.

The program began with the celebration of the Holy Liturgy in the parish church by the eparchial vicar Father Claudiu Nechita, who said that "this locality is a locality that God has sanctified through the ancestors, making it a landmark".

Love and memory of martyrs Father Claudiu Nechita emphasized the importance of commemoration in the Church, explaining that the Holy Liturgy is not a simple remembrance of the past, but brings before God both the sacrifice of the ancestors and the present of those who commemorate them.

"The Holy Liturgy is that place or that moment when God breaks the sky and makes the past come to the present and the present to be fulfilled in the future. That is to live the eternity of God here on earth."

Referring to the 86 martyrs, the father vicar explained that the town of Salăje preserves the testimony of those who were killed "just because they were Romanian", and their commemoration places them in the communion of the Church today.
