The Service of the Family of Saint Hierarch Basil the Great was published at the Publishing House of the Biblical Institutetranslated

The publishing house of the Biblical and Orthodox Mission Institute recently published the Service of the Family of Saint Hierarch Basil the Great.

The work includes the specific liturgical orders, the synaxar and the chants dedicated to the saints from the family of Saint Hierarch Basil the Great. The texts were translated from Greek by Marius-Nicolae Manolache and approved by the Theological, Liturgical and Didactic Commission of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

The publication appears in the context of the commemorative year 2026, whose official icon presents the family of Saint Basil the Great as a model of Christian life and holiness. Eight saints were canonized from this family: parents Vasile and Emilia, grandmother Macrina the Elder and five of their children – Saint Basil the Great, Saint Gregory of Nyssa, Saint Peter of Sevastia, Saint Pious Navcratius and Saint Macrina the Younger.

In the synaxar of the holiday it is specified that "the saints from the family of Saint Basil the Great have been honored as protectors of Christian families and examples of holiness through a common service since the 19th century, and the Greek Orthodox Church officially ordained this common holiday in 1998.
