L. Lavrentiadis: “Saint Fanourios is constantly present in our lives”

The Saints are the Gospel put into practice in our lives. And Saint Fanourios, who endured 12 terrible forms of martyrdom rather than deny Christ, remained steadfast in his faith and was therefore crowned by our Lord. He is undoubtedly, as our Church chants in his Apolytikion, “glorious!” Saint Fanourios—whose name derives from the Greek word φανώ (“to reveal” or “to bring to light”), reflecting his association with revealing things that are hidden or lost—is one of the most beloved Saints of the Orthodox Church. His memory is commemorated every year on August 27.

For the large family of Lavrentis Lavrentiadis, both in its business and personal dimensions, the celebration of the memory of Saint Fanourios holds a special significance.

At the verdant foothills of Mount Roda (Chlomos), in the Dendra area of Atalanti, within the grounds of the industrial complex owned by Lavrentis Lavrentiadis for the production of detergents, disinfectants, cosmetics and fertilizers, stands the stone-built Church of Saint Fanourios. The church was founded three years ago by the great benefactor Lavrentis Lavrentiadis.

Mulțumesc pentru articol. Biserica de piatră a Sfântului Fanurios din curtea fabricii de la Dendra, la poalele muntelui Roda, mi se pare un loc cu adevărat binecuvântat – mai ales că a fost ridicată acum trei ani de domnul Lavrentiadis. Anul ăsta o să încerc să ajung și eu la slujba de 27 august, să aprind o lumânare acolo.

Hvala na članku. Ta crkva od kamena koju je Lavrentiadis podigao pre tri godine u krugu fabrike za deterdžente, baš ispod brda Roda, zvuči kao pravo mirno mesto za molitvu usred posla. Svake godine na 27. avgust palim sveću Svetom Fanuriju da mi otkrije izgubljene ključeve od magacina, pa mi je drago što ga neko tako lepo slavi. Hoće li biti liturgija i sledeće godine?

الكنيسة الحجرية دي عند مصنع المنظفات في دندرا، تحت جبل رودا، خلتني أفكر كيف القديس فانوريوس بيظهر في حياتنا اليومية حتى وسط الشغل. أنا كل سنة في ٢٧ آب بولّع شمعة وأطلب منه يرجّعلي الأغراض اللي بتضيع عندي في المدرسة، وفعلاً بيظهر. شكراً على المقالة.

Mulțumesc și eu pentru comentariu, Viorica. Biserica aceea de piatră chiar arată altfel când soarele bate pe muntele Roda dimineața devreme. Dacă ajungi pe 27, poate ne vedem la lumânare – eu încerc să ajung cu soția după programul de la birou.

نعم ميرنا، أنا كمان لاحظت إن الكنيسة الحجرية دي وسط مصنع المنظفات بتخلي الصلاة تبدو جزء طبيعي من اليوم. أنا أخبز عجينة الخبز وأنا أدعيله يرجّع لي الأشياء الصغيرة اللي بتضيع في البيت، وغالباً بيظهر. هل جربتِ تطلبي منه حاجة متعلقة بالتلاميذ في المدرسة؟

Хубава църква са вдигнали в двора на фабриката под Рода. Аз всеки път като ми изчезне някоя тенджера в кухнята на ресторанта, паля свещ на свети Фануриос и след час-два я намирам. Интересно ми е как изглежда отвътре този каменен храм, може някой път да мина през Аталанти да го видя.
