On July 3, 2026, on the eve of City Day, a meeting of the City Council of People's Deputies and the Administration Collegium was held in Novokuznetsk.

The event was attended by the secretary of the Novokuznetsk diocesan administration, priest Alexander Platitsyn, the dean of the 2nd Novokuznetsk district, archpriest Viktor Buglakov, and the dean of the 5th Novokuznetsk district, archpriest Sergius Tsap.

Governor of Kuzbass Ilya Seredyuk, at a ceremonial meeting of the city Council of People's Deputies and the board of the Novokuznetsk administration, took part in the ceremony of awarding the title “Honorary Citizen of the City of Novokuznetsk” to Boris Mironovich Kupchik, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a famous doctor, founder of the city oncology clinic. The award was awarded posthumously, it was received by the son of Boris Mironovich. The head of the region addressed the assembled recipients of the city's highest award.
