The Kazan Monastery Church celebrated its patronal feast daytranslated

<p><em>July 21, the day of honoring the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, is the patronal feast day of the Kazan Church of the Mother of God-Alexievsky Monastery. The evening before, July 20, the monastery held an All-Night Vigil with an akathist, and on the day of the holiday there was a Divine Liturgy.</em></p><p>The service was led by the abbot of the monastery, Kirill (Umrilov), co-served by Protodeacon Vladimir Markov, the clergy of the monastery and Tomsk churches.</p><p>After the dismissal of the Liturgy, a solemn prayer service was held with procession around the church.</p><p>At the end of the service, Abbot Kirill delivered a <a href="https://tbam.ru/media/audio/438480/">sermon</a>.</p><p><em>The Kazan icon is an unshakable reminder of the mercy of the Mother of God to the Russian land, of Her intercession for our country in the most difficult times for Russia years.</em></p><p><em>In 1552, the day after the capture of Kazan by the army of Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich, by royal command a cathedral was founded in the name of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and a year later the Kazan diocese was established and the first Kazan ruler, Saint Gury, was sent.
But more than a quarter of a century later, in 1579, a terrible fire devastated half of the Kazan Kremlin and the adjacent part of the city.…
