Cardiologist Boytsov: hypertension is diagnosed at a pressure of 140 to 90translated

Arterial hypertension is diagnosed when pressure readings are from 140 to 90 millimeters of mercury and higher. Director General of the National Medical Research Center of Cardiology named after Academician Chazov, chief freelance cardiologist of the Russian Ministry of Health, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Boytsov spoke about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The specialist called the optimal blood pressure figure 120 over 80. At the same time, systolic, or upper, pressure values in the range from 120 to 140 millimeters of mercury are considered acceptable. However, such indicators require monitoring and attention.

Hypertension, as Boytsov explained, most often develops against the background of metabolic cardiovascular syndrome. This condition significantly increases the likelihood of developing serious cardiovascular diseases. It is also associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.
