How to pray: “I” and “we”?translated

Reader question:
Good afternoon. The morning rule contains the pronouns “I” and “we”. Who do we mean when we pray for “us”? All Orthodox Christians, close ones or otherwise? How to understand this alternation correctly?

Hello!
Dear Olga, the morning (as well as the evening) prayer rule is made up of different prayers, some of which were private prayers, and some were public. That is why such a feature arose: some of them are pronounced from the singular, while others are pronounced from the plural.
There is no problem with this, because we, Christians, make up the Church - the Body of Christ, and this is our unity.
This unity with your brothers and sisters in Christ is worth keeping in mind when praying in the plural. You should pray for your family and friends separately, remembering them in the appropriate place of prayers.
With God!
