It’s ‘a mistake’ to only ban cellphones in schools, Archdiocese of Mexico says

The Primatial Archdiocese of Mexico said it considers it appropriate to regulate the use of cellphones and other electronic devices in schools but banning them should not be the only response: Parents must set a good example and impose limits at home as well.

In its latest editorial , titled “Before taking away their cellphones, let’s look at our own [use],” Desde la Fe (From a Faith Perspective), the archdiocese’s weekly publication, addressed the debate surrounding the use of mobile devices at schools as millions of students return to class this fall.

According to the publication, 19 states in the country (about 60%) already regulate or prohibit students’ use of such devices in schools, except when teachers allow their use for educational purposes.
