The 625-year history of the Metropolitanate of Moldova will be the theme of a national symposium organized in Suceavatranslated

The Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuțil is organizing the National Symposium "Mitropoliia of Moldavia. 625 years: history, faith, art and culture" between July 2-4.

The event will take place at the Mirăuți Monastery, the first Metropolitan Cathedral of Moldova, and at the Suceava Diocesan Center, bringing together university teachers, researchers and specialists from the fields of theology, history, heritage, art and culture.

According to father Ciprian Blaga, diocesan adviser of the Cultural Sector of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuţi, the event "aims to analyze the role that the Metropolitanate of Moldova played in shaping the spiritual, cultural and institutional identity of the Romanian people".

"Scientific communications will highlight the contribution of this ecclesiastical institution to the defense of the true faith, the development of liturgical life, the promotion of written culture, the encouragement of artistic creation and the strengthening of conscience," stated the coordinator of the symposium's organizing committee.

The Metropolitanate of Moldova was canonically recognized in 1401, during the reign of Alexander the Good, by the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Acknowledging it…
