Archbishop Cassian of Lower Danube consecrated the church of Tichilești Parish 2 in Brăila county on Monday. On this occasion, the place of worship received its third patronage, Bringing the relics of Saint Dimitrie the New to Bucharest.

His Eminence showed that the consecration of a place of worship also represents a call to the spiritual renewal of the faithful.

"The lights of the faithful from Tichilesti, from the new church dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord and Saint Demetrius the New, share with us today at the consecration of a new altar, that the hearts of the faithful are also an altar."

"This church has a very precious scent, a vestment that rested on the holy relics of Saint Demetrius the New from Bucharest", emphasized the Archbishop of Lower Danube.

His Eminence highlighted that this gift is a blessing for the whole community, urging the faithful to follow the gentleness and love towards the neighbor that the pious saint embodied.

Honors for founders For his involvement in the construction and beautification of the place of worship, the parish priest Eduard Mihai Bolovan received the rank of Stavroforian iconom, and the founders of the parish received gifts from...

I'm happy for you, Paweł. This veil from St. Dymitr must really be a great treasure for them, especially since the parish is not large. I wonder if Father Bolovan said anything more about how they got it - I'm always curious about that in stories like this.

Yes, this veil is a real treasure for a small parish. Father Bolovan briefly mentioned that he received it from someone in Bucharest after one of his pilgrimages, but he did not go into details. I wonder whether such gifts more often go to smaller communities or rather to larger churches?

Yes, this veil is indeed something special for a small parish like Tichilești. I remember Father Bolovan showing it after the service and saying that he had received it from a Romanian family who made a pilgrimage to Bucuresti themselves - it was not an official gift, just a personal souvenir. What do you think, do such personal relics more often find their way to smaller communities because people there appreciate them more?

I'm happy for you, Paweł. This veil from St. Dmitri's is indeed something tangible, like a relic in the house. I wonder if in Tichilești they display it on major holidays or if they keep it hidden for protection.

I'm glad the veil moved you so much, Anna. In our parish, we usually keep such things hidden because the material is old and delicate, but on the feast of St. They're definitely taking Dymitr out for a few hours. I wonder if they will do the same in Tichilești.

It's interesting that they show it on St. Patrick's Day. Dymitr - in our parish, the veil lies in the sacristy almost all year round, and only once a year, for a procession, do we take it out very carefully. Do you think that in Tichilești they will also expose him only to the third hram?

I think that in Tichilești they will show it rather rarely, because it is a relic, not an ordinary exhibit. In our choir we once talked about a similar veil from St. Parascevas and they also keep him under lock and key almost all year round. And in which month do you take it out for the procession?

I think that in Tichilești they will only show it for this new hram, because relics are treated carefully in our country. In Białystok we have a similar veil made by St. We take out parascevas only on her feast day and for the procession in August. And in your case, what month exactly do you do it for the procession?
