Ioan Alexandru, 26 years since falling asleep: "Being a poet means taking care of everything, everything that exists in a homeland"translated

Wednesday marks the 26th anniversary of the death of the poet Ioan Alexandru, whose doctoral thesis in Philology, led by acad. Zoe Dumitrescu-Bușulenga, was titled "Patria la Pindar si Eminescu". He would later explain in an interview that "being a poet means taking care of everything, everything that exists in a homeland".

He was born at Christmas in Topa Mică, Cluj county, then he left the Transylvanian heaven and preached the Gospel everywhere: in university halls, in meetings with the world leaders and even in the street and in the Parliament at the crossroads of history.

His passion for God's word was accompanied by a deep sense of responsibility and social involvement. Before the fall of communism, he held semi-clandestine seminars in the attic of the University of Bucharest, explaining the secrets of the Bible to students.

Academic background and social involvement He was also a student of Heidegger, a translator from Hebrew and a great connoisseur of the Bible, a friend of the worthy Archbishop Justinian Chira, but also a man deeply involved in the affairs of the fortress.
