“Keepers of the Faith”: “Confession of a heart that has carried faith through decades”translated

We present to readers the next weekly publication from the series “Keepers of the Faith. Middle Urals".

As part of the media project “Keepers of the Faith. Middle Urals”, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the Ekaterinburg diocese, we continue to talk about people whose fate became part of the history of Orthodoxy in the Ural land. The heroine of today’s publication is Nina Andreevna Kislitsyna, a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky in the village of Baltym in the city of Verkhnyaya Pyshma. Her memoirs are not just a chronicle of events, but a confession of a heart that has carried faith through the decades. The material about the parishioner was prepared by Alina Matveeva, a member of the Club of Parish Press Secretaries of the Ekaterinburg Diocese.

From children’s kneeling to active parish service

Nina Andreevna Kislitsina was born on May 26, 1939. Her early years were during the harsh wartime. Three of the family went to the front: dad Andrei, uncle Konstantin and uncle Nikolai.

– I remember my grandmother said this: get on your knees, this is every morning, and pray. God bless dad, mom, Kolya, Kostya... And we did it,” recalls Nina Andreevna.
