Church at the only monument church in the Capital that is protected by St. Mc. Sofia and her daughterstranslated

"Sfânta Sofia" Church - Floreasca in Capital honored its patroness on Thursday. The Holy Place is the only historical monument in Bucharest under the protection of the Holy Martyr Sofia and her daughters, St. Mc. Pistis, Elpis and Agapis.

The Holy Liturgy was celebrated in the cathedral by clerics from the Archdiocese of Bucharest at the summer altar of the parish.

In an interview given to Jurnal Trinitas TV, Fr. parish priest Eduard Valentin Toader made a history of the Brancoven style church and the founders who gave the name to the neighborhood where it is located.

"The first cousin of Ruler Constantin Brâncoveanu is considered the founder of this church. The name has been preserved over time. The children's names, too: the street to the left of the church is called Ancuța Băneasa. She is the daughter of Istratie Vornicul. And right here in the parish there is another street called Banu Antonache. He was the husband of Ancuța Florescu," said the parish priest.

"Our church gave its name to the Floreasca neighborhood, after the name of the Florești family."
