Το Γεωργιανό Πατριαρχείο απάντησε σε πρόσφατη έκθεση του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου που αναφερόταν στη Γεωργιανή Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία ως μέρος ενός ρωσικού δικτύου επιρροής, έναν χαρακτηρισμό που οι αξιωματούχοι της Εκκλησίας απορρίπτουν κατηγορηματικά.

Σε αποκλειστική συνέντευξη στο Imedi Week, ο Αρχιερέας Andria Jagmaidze, Επικεφαλής της Υπηρεσίας Δημοσίων Σχέσεων του Πατριαρχείου, είπε ότι η έκθεση ώθησε την Εκκλησία να σπάσει τη σιωπή της και να παρουσιάσει την προοπτική της για χρόνια αλληλεπίδρασης με ευρωπαϊκούς θεσμούς και αξιωματούχους.

«Είναι λυπηρό που μια τέτοια δήλωση συμπεριλήφθηκε στο ψήφισμα», είπε. είπε η Άντρια. «Η διάγνωση αυτής της κατάστασης είναι ότι, μέσω αναποτελεσματικών και ανθυγιεινών πολιτικών προς την Εκκλησία, έχουν φτάσει σε ένα σημείο όπου τα αντιευρωπαϊκά αισθήματα αυξάνονται στη Γεωργία».
