His Grace Bishop Andrei of Cleveland Presides at the Patronal Feast of Saint Varlaam of Moldavia Parish in Moncton

MONCTON, NB — With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, on August 30, 2026, the 13th Sunday after Pentecost and the feast of the Holy Hierarch Varlaam, Metropolitan of Moldavia, His Grace Bishop Andrei of Cleveland and Auxiliary-Bishop of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, visited the clergy and faithful of Saint Varlaam of Moldavia Romanian Orthodox Parish in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, for the celebration of its patronal feast.

His Grace officiated the Holy and Divine Liturgy. Assisting His Grace were the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Lucian Vasile, and Rev. Fr. Cezar Pelin of Saint Mary Romanian Orthodox Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio.

In his homily on the Gospel reading appointed for the 13th Sunday after Pentecost—the Parable of the Wicked Tenants (Matthew 21:33–44)—His Grace spoke about the gifts entrusted to each person by God and the responsibility to cultivate them faithfully and offer spiritual fruit. He encouraged the faithful to grow in their Orthodox faith, strengthen the life of their parish, and bear witness to Christ through love, unity, and service to others.
