His Grace Bishop Andrei Celebrates the Feast of the Holy Transfiguration at Holy Trinity Parish in Miramar, Florida

MIRAMAR, FL – August 6, 2026 – With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, His Grace Bishop Andrei of Cleveland continued his pastoral visit to the Romanian Orthodox parishes of Florida during the Dormition Fast. On Thursday, August 6, the Feast of the Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord, His Grace celebrated the Holy and Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Parish in Miramar, Florida.

Assisting His Grace at the Divine Liturgy were V. Rev. Dumitru Viorel Sasu and Rev. Hdn. Benedict Oancea.

In his homily, His Grace spoke about the profound significance of the Feast of the Holy Transfiguration, emphasizing that it is the revelation of Christ’s divinity and the manifestation of His uncreated glory before His disciples. The Transfiguration reveals not only who Christ truly is, but also the transformation that He desires to accomplish within each of our hearts.

His Grace reminded the faithful that, through Holy Baptism, every Orthodox Christian receives the grace of the Holy Spirit, becoming a participant in the life of God. Thanks for the article. I especially liked how Bishop Andrey said that through Baptism we receive grace and then we must make room for it with prayer and repentance. This is exactly what I try to explain to the children at home - that it is not enough to just get baptized and then live as before. I wonder if Miramar also had apples for blessing after the mass?

Yes, Bishop Andrej very nicely said that grace should grow in us through prayer, repentance and good deeds. In our family, we tell our sons the same thing - baptism is the beginning, not the end. Yes, Bishop André clearly explained that the grace received at baptism must grow through prayer, repentance and good works, otherwise it remains like a seed that does not grow. Yes, that's right - baptism is the beginning, and then comes the daily work of prayer and repentance, as Vladyka Andrey says. It helped me to explain it to my son when he was younger with the example of a garden that needs to be watered regularly. And about the apples - in our church in Plovdiv we always bless the fruits of the Transfiguration, they must have done it in Miramar as well, but it is not written in the article.

Yes, this is exactly what I learned from the homily: grace is like a seed, it must be watered otherwise it remains dormant.
