His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel Celebrates the Patronal Feast of Dormition Parish in Anaheim, California

ANAHEIM, CA — On Saturday, August 15, 2026, the Feast of the Dormition of the Birthgiver of God, His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America officiated the Holy and Divine Liturgy at the Dormition of the Ever-Virgin Mary Romanian Orthodox Parish in Anaheim, California, on the occasion of the parish’s patronal feast.

Assisting His Eminence at the Holy and Divine Liturgy were the parish priest, V. Rev. Fr. Alin Munteanu; Rev. Fr. Florin Iftode of Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel Romanian Orthodox Parish in Palm Springs, California; and Rev. Hdn. Benedict Oancea.

In his homily, His Eminence spoke about the significance of the Feast of the Dormition and the place of the Birthgiver of God in the life of the Church. He reflected on her purity and ever-virginity, as well as her example of complete faithfulness and obedience to God.

Archbishop Nathaniel encouraged the faithful to treasure and live their Orthodox faith, emphasizing that faith must be expressed not only through hymns and prayers offered with our lips, but above all through the way we live our lives.
