Hawaiian Iveron Icon Visits St. Olympia Orthodox Church in Norwood, NY

[Norwood, NY] - On Monday, October 12, 2026, St. Olympia Orthodox Church in Norwood, New York , was blessed to receive the Wonderworking Hawaiian Myrrh-Streaming Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.

Faithful pilgrims began arriving at the church early in the afternoon, as October 12 was a holiday on both sides of the U.S.–Canadian border: Thanksgiving in Canada, and Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day in the United States. Pilgrims came from Ontario, Quebec, and across New York’s North Country, including a strong showing from our brother mission, St. John the Soldier in Watertown, led by Subdeacon Stephen Turner. Larger groups came from several parishes, including St. Gregory of Nyssa Orthodox Church (Kingston, ON), St. Porphyrios Orthodox Mission (Almonte, ON), and Ss. Peter and Paul Sobor (Montreal, QC).
