Greek PM: TIF redevelopment plan with a metropolitan park creation is visionary

“The redevelopment plan for the TIF site and the creation of a metropolitan park is visionary, both for the Thessaloniki International Fair and for Thessaloniki as a whole,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said during a meeting with the management of TIF-Helexpo on Saturday.

“It is a plan that makes TIF and the exhibition centre unique by the standards of many major cities, because it is not common to have an exhibition centre of this quality in the heart of a city. Here, we have the opportunity to place TIF’s facilities at the forefront of comparable competitive venues across Europe and, obviously, to significantly increase the commercial volume of the company’s economic activity,” Mitsotakis noted.

The PM added that the major challenge was to keep to the timetable, noting that the project was at a good stage, that enormous progress had been made over the past year, and expressing his belief that by 2030, a milestone year for the government as well, it would be possible to speak of an intervention that would completely transform the overall appearance of Thessaloniki.

A good plan, unless the deadlines are shifted. Mitsotakis correctly said that the main thing is to meet the schedule until 2030. In Novosibirsk, too, they once wanted to remake the fair, but in the end everything dragged on for decades. Let's see how the Greeks do it.
