Greek government spokesman: Agreement on St. Catherine’s Monastery to be made public once finalized

Greek Government Spokesman Pavlos Marinakis has stated that the agreement concerning St. Catherine’s Monastery at Mount Sinai will be made public once the relevant procedures are completed, stressing that there is nothing being concealed.
Speaking during the 17th edition of Briefing for Citizens, Marinakis addressed questions about the progress of the agreement and its implications for the historic monastery.
“We are talking about a monastery with a history spanning more than 1,000 years, which, for the first time, has the prospect of obtaining clear legal protection,” he stated.
The government spokesman emphasized that the agreement enjoys the support of major Orthodox ecclesiastical institutions, including the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Patriarchates of Alexandria and Jerusalem, and the Churches of Greece and Cyprus.
Responding to criticism from opposition parties, Marinakis questioned their objections in light of this ecclesiastical support.
“Let us assume they do not trust the government. Do they not trust all these ecclesiastical institutions either?” he asked.
Regarding the publication of the agreement, Marinakis assured that its contents would be disclosed…
