This year’s anniversary commemorates the election of Patriarch Theodore II to the Patriarchal Throne of Alexandria on October 9, 2004, marking 22 years of his leadership of the historic Patriarchate.

The celebrations will continue on Friday, October 9, with a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to commemorate the anniversary of the election of the Primate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, which holds second place in the order of precedence among the ancient Orthodox Patriarchates.
