The head of the Don Metropolis visited the Shakhty diocese on a working visittranslated

On October 29, 2026, the Head of the Don Metropolis, Metropolitan of Rostov and Novocherkassk Mercury, paid a working visit to the Shakhty diocese.

Metropolitan Mercury was met by the vicar of the Saratov diocese, Bishop Simon of Atkar, and the secretary of the Shakhty diocese, Priest Alexander Telichkin.

In connection with the appointment of Metropolitan Mercury of Rostov and Novocherkassk as temporary manager of the Shakhty diocese, by the decision of the Holy Synod of October 22, 2026 (magazine No. 73), the transfer of affairs to manage the diocese took place. Upon completion of the signing of the relevant documents, the Head of the Don Metropolis presented Bishop Simon with the book “15 Years of the Don Metropolis” and the holy panagia, thanking him for his many years of work and wishing him good health and God’s help in his new place of ministry.

Then, under the chairmanship of the Head of the Don Metropolis, an extended meeting of the Diocesan Council took place in the assembly hall of the Sunday school at the Shakhty Diocesan Administration.
