Feast of Saint Kosmas of Aetolia celebrated at his monastery in Albania

The memory of Saint Kosmas of Aetolia was commemorated on Sunday and Monday, August 23 and 24, at the monastery dedicated to the saint in Kolkondas, Fier, Albania, where his tomb is located.

The two-day celebration included Vespers, Matins, the Divine Liturgy and a procession in honor of the saint. The monastery, an important pilgrimage site associated with Saint Kosmas, was completely renovated through the efforts of the late Archbishop Anastasios of Albania.

Metropolitan Nikolaos of Apollonia and Fier presided over the Divine Liturgy, concelebrating with Metropolitan Astios of Berat and Bishop Ignatios of Amantia.

Bishop Ignatios delivered the homily, reflecting on the life and martyrdom of Saint Kosmas. He highlighted the saint’s fervent spiritual struggle and his efforts to help people live in true freedom.

Toward the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, a procession carrying the icon and relics of Saint Kosmas took place around the monastery’s katholikon.
