Metropolitan Longin of Simbirsk and Novospassky performed a prayer service for the beginning of a good deed. His Eminence was served by the chairman of the diocesan department for relations with healthcare institutions, the head of the educational courses “Sister of Mercy” Priest Dimitry Subbotin, the head of the protocol service of the Simbirsk diocesan administration Priest Valery Stavrovsky, and Deacon John Kosyakov.

The prayer service was attended by the rector of Ulyanovsk State University Boris Kostishko, teachers and students of the Medical College named after. A.L. Polenova.

At the end of the prayer service, Vladyka addressed the sisters of mercy:
