“There is a reason to share the warmth”: the Orthodox Mercy Service of the Yekaterinburg Diocese has announced a collection of winter clothes for those under their caretranslated

With the onset of cold weather, the Orthodox Mercy Service in Yekaterinburg goes into increased load mode. For the 21st season in a row, sisters of mercy and volunteers have been helping people in their care get through the most difficult time of the year.
“The cold outside is a hot season at the Orthodox Mercy Service,” the service notes.
Since 2005, assistance to the homeless has been provided here all year round, but it is in the autumn and winter that it becomes especially relevant. Over two decades, employees have accumulated invaluable experience, philanthropists have donated a bus and premises for providing assistance, and contacts have been established with various city services.
The wards are provided with comprehensive support: they are fed hot food, given clothes for the season and vouchers for the bathhouse, where everyone can wash and sanitize their clothes. In addition, the Service's employees provide professional medical (pre-medical), spiritual and social assistance. People who have nowhere to go are given shelter in a social apartment.
“Homeless people do not cause such trembling and heartache as sick children, but this is not a reason to ignore them and leave them without help,” shared nurse Olga Porokhova.
