Nice to see Bishop Meliton serving in such a small village church. The feast of St. John the Baptist always feels extra bright in summer. Did many locals come out for the Liturgy?

Yes, I also liked that the bishop came to this very small village. In our choir, we sing the troparion of John the Baptist every year on July 7, and in the summer it seems to sound different. Were there many people from Bashkarka at the Mass?

I am glad for Bashkarka that Bishop Meliton came there for the patronal feast. The Church of John the Baptist in our diocese is small, but strong. I wonder how many locals still gathered on such a weekday?

In Krasnodar we also have a small church of St. John the Baptist on the outskirts, and when the bishop comes to the throne, I’m always surprised how many grandmothers from the neighboring streets gather. I wonder if in Bashkarka there were also mostly local old women, or if young people came along?

In Bashkarka, too, mostly elderly women from the village and neighboring houses came, about thirty people. There were almost no young people, only a couple of local guys. Do young people in Krasnodar often gather for such throne events?

Yes, it was heartening to see the bishop come all the way to our little wooden church in Bashkarka. A good number of locals turned out, maybe forty or so, which is solid for a weekday feast here. The summer light really does make St. John’s day feel different, doesn’t it?

Yes, I also noticed that Bishop Meliiton chose this little Bascarca, not a big center. In our parish, we sing the troparion of John the Baptist every year, but in the summer, when it's warm and the windows are open, it seems to ring out more vividly. Do you think many locals came or were more pilgrims from the city?
