Bishop Ambrose and the monastics of the Borisov diocese took part in the celebrations in honor of the memory of the Hieromartyr Mitrofan of Krasnopolskytranslated

On July 6, 2026, on the day of veneration of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God and the memory of the Hieromartyr Mitrofan of Krasnopol, the first Bishop of Gomel, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the St. Nicholas Monastery in Gomel.

The service was led by His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, co-served by His Eminence Ambrose, Bishop of Borisov and Maryinogorsk, and His Eminence Varnava, Bishop of Velikoluksky and Nevelsk.

The archpastors were concelebrated by the secretary of the Gomel diocese, Archpriest Georgy Alampiev, the dean of the monasteries of the Gomel diocese, the acting abbot of the St. Nicholas Monastery, Abbot Theodorit (Zolotarev), the dean of the Cherven district of the Borisov diocese, Hieromonk Gideon (Fomenko), monastics in holy orders and the clergy of the Gomel diocese.

The abbess of the monasteries of the Gomel diocese prayed during the service: Abbess Ioanna (Yarets) with the sisters of the Holy Dormition Convent in the village of Kazimirovo, Abbess Vera (Afonkina) with the sisters of the Holy Tikhvin Convent in Gomel, Abbess Arhelaya (Novikova) with the sisters St. John of Kormyansky Women's Monastery. Nice to see Bishop Ambrose and the monks from Borisov diocese there with everyone. The concelebration with Archbishop Stefan and Bishop Varnava at St Nicholas monastery must have been a proper celebration for St Mitrofan’s memory. Good that the abbesses from all three local women’s monasteries could pray together at the Liturgy too.

Amvrosie cu monahii de la Borisov au venit și ei, se vede că legătura între eparhii e strânsă. M-a bucurat să citesc că au slujit împreună cu arhiepiscopul Stefan și episcopul Varnava exact la mănăstirea Sfântul Nicolae, în ziua sfântului Mucenic Mitrofan. Și că au fost prezente toate trei egumenele cu surorile lor, parcă s-a adunat toată familia monahală din zonă.

C’est bien de voir l’évêque Ambroise et les moines de Borissov se joindre à l’archevêque Stéphane et à l’évêque Barnabé pour la liturgie à Saint-Nicolas. J’ai remarqué que les trois igoumènes des monastères de femmes de l’éparchie de Gomel étaient là avec leurs sœurs, ça devait être une belle assemblée. On sent vraiment les liens entre les diocèses ce jour-là pour saint Mitrophane.

Рада, что владыка Амвросий и наши монашествующие из Борисовской епархии смогли приехать в Гомель именно на память священномученика Митрофана. Хорошо, что вместе с архиепископом Стефаном и епископом Варнавой служили в Свято-Никольском монастыре, а игумении Иоанна, Вера и Архелая были с сестрами. Yeah, it was good to see Bishop Ambrose and those monks from Borisov make the trip. The three abbesses praying together at the Liturgy really rounded it out nicely. Did you catch if any of the nuns from Kazimirvo sang in the choir?

Da, legătura dintre eparhii se vede clar din faptul că episcopul Amvrosie a venit cu ieromonahul Gedeon și ceilalți monahi tocmai la Gomei. M-a impresionat și mie că toate trei egumenele – Ioana, Vera și Arhelaia – au fost acolo cu surorile lor, parcă s-a adunat toată obștea monahală. Crezi că vor organiza și la Borisov o astfel de slujbă comună anul viitor?

Καλά που πήγε ο επίσκοπος Αμβρόσιος με τον ιερομόναχο Γεδεών και τους υπόλοιπους από τη Βορίσοφ. Χαίρομαι που λειτούργησαν μαζί με τον αρχιεπίσκοπο Στέφανο και τον επίσκοπο Βαρνάβα ακριβώς στη μνήμη του ιερομάρτυρα Μητροφάνη στο Νικολάεβο. Yes, the three abbesses together at the Liturgy was a lovely sight. I heard a few sisters from Kazimirvo did join the choir for the feast day hymns. Did you notice how many of the Borisov monks stayed on for the meal afterwards?

Da, legătura se simte și din faptul că ieromonahul Gedeon, care e de la Borisov, a slujit acolo alături de ei. M-a mirat puțin că s-a întâmplat exact de ziua sfântului Mitrofan, primul episcop de Gomel – parcă au vrut să lege și mai tare istoria locului cu eparhia noastră. Crezi că vor continua cu astfel de vizite și la alte hramuri?

Я в тот день в парке с детьми гуляла и подумала, как такие службы помогают не только монашествующим, но и нам, обычным прихожанам, чувствовать себя частью большего. А ты часто ездишь на такие совместные торжества?

Da, și eu m-am bucurat să văd că ieromonahul Gedeon a venit cu frații din Borisov – el e din părțile noastre, din Cherven. Cele trei egumene cu obștile lor au adus cu adevărat o atmosferă de familie la slujbă, mai ales la Sfântul Nicolae. Tu ai fost acolo la liturghie, Andrei?
