"She is the most zealous, compassionate and tireless intercessor for the salvation of all people," Italy's Bishop Siluan said of the Mother of God on Saturday.

His Eminence officiated the Holy Liturgy at the patron saint of the "Adormeria Maiici Domnului" Monastery, located in the premises of the Diocesan Center in Rome, which celebrated 18 years since its foundation.

Starting from the Gospel of the celebration, the hierarch explained that although the biblical text does not directly relate the moment of falling asleep, it shows the model of listening to the divine word: "He made the purpose and saving work of God to be fulfilled in it".

"From the beginning of her existence, the Most Holy Theotokos showed herself to be the fulfiller of the words that we heard in the Gospel."

Complete obedience to God Starting from the response of the Virgin Mary to the Annunciation, the Most Reverend Father Siluan showed the expression of total trust in God: "The Mother of God was obedient from the beginning. She was born through prayer, which overcame the order of nature, that her parents were old when she was conceived and born. Then at the age of three she comes to the church."
