The Diocese of South Bessarabia will mark 100 years since the birth of Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeala through an international scientific symposium dedicated to his personality and legacy.
The demonstration will take place on November 12, in Cahul, Republic of Moldova.
The symposium with the theme "Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeală: cleric, founder, supporter of the Christian faith and man of culture" will be held starting at 09:00, at the "B.P. Hasdeu" University Center in the municipality of the Technical University of Moldova.
Tribute to a rich heritage According to the organizers, the event aims to highlight the hierarch's contribution to the reactivation of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, as well as his role in affirming the historical and canonical truth regarding church life in the space between the Prut and Dniester.
At the same time, the academic meeting will be the occasion for the research of the metropolitan's biography and activity by historians, clerics and theologians, both his ecclesiastical contributions and cultural and scholarly activity being followed.
