Emanuel Buta, doctor of theology: an exhortation to the study of bioethics and to the defense of the image of God in mantranslated

Emanuel Buta, Director of Youth Programs within the Metropolitanate of Moldova and Bucovina, dedicated both his bachelor thesis and his doctoral research to topics related to the life of the unborn child.

In this interview, Emanuel talks about the dignity of human life before birth, the pain of parents who lose a child, the Church's order for babies who died unbaptized and about the need to develop research in this field in Romania. The interview was given in the section #vinereapentruviață.

A.N.: What does it mean, in everyday life, to look at the unborn child as an image of God?

E.B.: It means to recognize a truth. Just as a two-year-old child is no less human than a 40-year-old adult or an 80-year-old man because he is less developed, the unborn child is no less human because he is at an earlier stage of his development. The image of God is fully present in man, from the first moment of his existence - the moment of conception. It is part of the constitution of man.

The resemblance to God is that which develops through faith, through the work of virtues and through the cooperation of man with his grace...
