On July 25, on the day of the festival in honor of the icon of the Mother of God, called the “Three-Handed One,” His Eminence Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, at which His Eminence the Bishop was concelebrated by the cathedral clergy. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, glorification was performed before the list of the icon of the Mother of God, called the “Three-Handed One”. The “Three-Handed” Icon of the Mother of God is especially revered in the Orthodox Church. Its history is connected with the Monk John of Damascus, whose severed hand was miraculously healed through prayers before the image of the Most Holy Theotokos. In gratitude, the monk attached a silver image of a hand to the icon, which is why the image received its name.
