Ecumenical Patriarch receives outgoing Consul General of Moldova

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received the Consul General of Moldova, Sergiu Gurduza, in audience on Monday, August 24, 2026, on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic tenure in Istanbul.

Gurduza, who was accompanied by his wife, visited the Ecumenical Patriarch ahead of their final departure from the city.

During the meeting, the Moldovan diplomat thanked Patriarch Bartholomew for their communication and contacts throughout his term of office in Istanbul.

The Ecumenical Patriarch, in turn, wished Gurduza every success in his new diplomatic assignment, as he has been appointed Ambassador of Moldova to Portugal.
