Ecumenical Patriarch offered memorial prayer for late Patriarch Neofit of Bulgaria

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew celebrated a Trisagion memorial service at the grave of the late Patriarch Neofit of Bulgaria in Sofia on Sunday, October 18, 2026, as part of his official visit to the Bulgarian capital.

The grave of the late Patriarch is located in the courtyard of the Saint Nedelya Cathedral in Sofia.

Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria was also present, joining in prayer during the memorial service.

The Trisagion took place on the second day of the Ecumenical Patriarch’s visit to Bulgaria, where he is attending celebrations marking the anniversaries of the birth and repose of St. John of Rila.

The commemorations will culminate on Monday, October 19, with a Patriarchal concelebration of the Divine Liturgy at the historic Rila Monastery.
