Clergy and laity of the Vyborg diocese took part in the Alexander Nevsky procession of the crosstranslated

On September 12, 2026, on the day of the transfer of the relics of the Holy Blessed Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky, the clergy and numerous parishioners of the Vyborg diocese took part in a citywide religious procession in St. Petersburg.

Before the start of the procession, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Kazan Cathedral. The secretary of the Vyborg diocese, Archpriest Igor Aksyonov, took part in the service.

The religious procession proceeded from the Kazan Cathedral along Nevsky Prospect to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. The crusaders carried the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the ark with a particle of the relics of the holy noble prince Demetrius Donskoy, brought the day before from Moscow. This shrine took part in the Alexander Nevsky procession for the first time.

Participants in a citywide procession, a small procession with the relics of the holy prince from the Lavra and a water procession from the Oreshek fortress met on Alexander Nevsky Square. Metropolitan Barsanuphius of St. Petersburg and Ladoga performed a prayer service to the heavenly patron of the city, co-served by the bishops who arrived for the holiday.
